What's the venue address & telephone number?

Can I park at the venue?

There is no parking at the conference venue. There is on street parking using parking meters during the day (although this is expensive). The nearest car park is a long stay at Edinburgh Waverley, New Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1BB

 

What time does the registration desk open?

 

The registration desk (located in Crush Hall on first floor) will be open as follows:

Wednesday: 8.00 am - 16.00 pm

Thursday:  8.00 am - 16.00 pm

Friday:  8.00 am - 14.00 pm

 

Is there a cloakroom and can I leave my luggage?

 

There will be a free manned cloakroom available at the entrance level of the building (8.30 am – 5 pm) until 7 pm on Wednesday evening. If possible, leave your case / luggage at your hotel.  Please do not leave items of value in your luggage.  BIPOSA cannot accept responsibility for lost items or for luggage or clothing left behind.

 

Can I check my presentation and is there a speaker preview room?

 

Yes, we have made provision for a speaker preview room and this will be located in west drawing room corridor on first floor and will be open as follows:

Wednesday: 8.00 am - 16.00 pm

Thursday:  8.00 am - 16.00 pm

Friday:  8.00 am - 14.00 pm

 

Priority will be given to invited speakers.  If you are presenting  a free paper or rapid fire free paper we require your presentation by the deadline of Friday 27th September.  In exceptional circumstances it may be possible to amend your presentation on site (if we have received it by the deadline)

 

Is there an exhibition and which companies will I be able to chat with this year?

 

We are fortunate to have the support of eleven companies and more details are located on our exhibition page.  The exhibition is free for speakers / delegates attending the meeting and stands will be located in the Ballroom and the exhibition will be open as follows:

Wednesday: 08.30 am - 17.00 pm

Thursday: 08.30 am - 17.00 pm

Friday: 08.30 am - 15.00 pm

 

What social activities are taking place?

 

Wednesday Group Photo – we have arranged for a group photo immediately before the start of the reception. This will take place in the main lecture hall located in the music hall

Wednesday evening Reception - The organising committee would like to invite you to a welcome reception on Wednesday evening in the Ballroom at approximately 6 pm for approximately 90 minutes. After that your evening is free and there are lots of great places to eat in Edinburgh

Thursday morning - A BIPOSA tradition is the 5 km early morning run suitable for all abilities. Release those endorphins! Please meet at the steps of the Assembly Rooms at 7.15 am on Thursday morning. The route will be available soon

Thursday evening - the BIPOSA annual dinner will take place Dynamic Earth.  The ticket price includes a free self-guided tour of the museum galleries; welcome reception; three courses sit down dinner with wine followed by a disco. Tickets are priced £60 and there is now limited availability

 

Will my dietary requirements be catered for?

 

We will provide a vegetarian alternative at all meals suitable for most dietary requirements. However, if you have a food allergy (for example nut / gluten), please let us know.

 

Is there free Wifi and will I be able to get my social media fix?

 

Yes, there is free wifi available throughout the venue. Please logon using “Assembly rooms Internet”; you will be required to input an email address on the landing page and then you’re logged on.

How will I get my CPD certificate?

 

We will provide evaluation for the meeting online after the meeting. Once you have completed the evaluation we will email a certificate to you.

 

What's BIPOSA doing to help save the planet?

 

We use recycled plastic for our badges. We are not providing delegate bags, pens or paper and all receipts and information are sent electronically.  We are trying to minimise our carbon print.
