Rooms we will be using at BIPOSA:

Access from George Street front of building

Cloakroom on ground floor (on your left from entrance)

Registration will take place in the Crush Hall on first floor (use stairs to your right from entrance)

Exhibition and catering will be in the Ballroom (left of Crush Hall)

Speaker preview will be in the corridor towards west drawing room

Lectures in the Music Hall (right of Crush Hall)

Posters and eposters will be in East and West drawing rooms (either end of the Ballroom)


Annual Dinner


This year's annual dinner and disco will take place at Dynamic Earth.


The ticket price includes a free self-guided tour of the museum galleries; welcome reception; three courses sit down dinner with

wine followed by a disco.

Dynamic Earth

Holyrood Road, Edinburgh EH8 8AS (tel. 0131 550 7800).

Delegates to make own way there (5-10 minutes by taxi or 20 minutes walk from city centre).

At the close of the evening we have arranged coach pick up from Dynamic Earth to drop off near Waverley Station.  Pick ups from 11.45 pm and 12.30 am.


Annual Abstract Prize


This year BIPOSA awarded two abstract prizes:

Helen Kuht, Research Orthoptist at the University of Leicester for an abstract entitled "Using artificial intelligence to distinguish between normal and abnormal development of the fovea'

Jigs Mehta, Lecturer in Orthoptics at the University of Liverpool for an abstract entitled 'Visual function risk factors for falls in older adults'

This year there will be free papers and rapid fire free paper sessions.  Submission deadline for audiovisual materials is now closed

BIPOSA Run - Thursday morning


A BIPOSA tradition is the 5 km early morning run suitable for all abilities.  Release those endorphins!  Please meet at the steps of the Assembly Rooms at 7.15 am on Thursday morning.  You can download the route to your smart phone
